Roman author, Publilius Syrus once said, “No pleasure endures unseasoned by variety.” I take it to mean, if you don't want to get bored, mix it up. So that's what I do. A quick rummage through my website should depict my creative diversity, and illustrate that I rarely get bored with art or writing.
Artist
My mother is always urging me to draw “pretty things”. That hasn't always been the case, but I try to do my best in whatever I do. I have studied all art mediums including paints, pencils, ink, charcoal, sculpture and digital forms. My subject matter has been just as varied, studying everything from sequential art, to portraits, to landscapes. Professionally, I've been commissioned for paintings, illustrations, and graphics.
Writer
The first complete story I ever wrote was a pirate spoof I hacked together in sixth grade home room. It was meant to gain the attention of a girl, and, to my surprise, it worked. Alas, the girl is long gone, but I haven't stopped writing. To date, I've written two books, one novella, a number of short stories, kept a fiction blog and currently have an ongoing, online graphic novel. Outside of creative fiction, I have also been a journalist covering sports and recreation in the Albany area.
Professional Career
A volatile economy and years as a freelancer has stacked my resume with a hefty list of employers in the past decade. I worked in marketing for Liberty Business Development Group and Mattel Toys. Artistically, I have been commissioned by McGraw-Hill publishing, writers Jackie Kessler and Caitlin Kittredge and I have worked with artist Matthew Dow Smith. Also adept at website development, I have worked with T&W, Nelmezzo and Twice Told to meet their design needs. Most recently, I have been writing for the Examiner, covering sports and recreation.
